Grant Shanahan
Grant and I have been making music together for the last 14 years. We came together as the principle songwriters in Eva Trout and have stayed best friends ever since. Grant played bass, did all the backing vocals and had some great ideas for junior years. As friends we work really well, being that he is patient and calm and me, well i have been known to be rather frenetic and highly strung. So our dynamic has just seemed to work all these years. Grant is currently making his first solo record and I played drums, percussion and sung all the backing vocals. The songs are a heady mix of pop and melancholic alt-country. It's a stella record, and I had a lot of fun playing on it. I will keep you posted as to when it is released.
Perry Keyes
My other main project is drumming with Perry Keyes & give my love to rose. Perry's debut double album meter (Laughing Outlaw Records) came out in 2005 and was one of the first records we recorded up in Leisure Suit Studios. We had a lot of fun then. Grant and I had no idea what we were doing, we were just shooting in the dark . . . it was great! Perry had a bunch of songs and I listened to them for the first time and went in and recorded them spontaneously. The songs shine with their low-fi production, and the rawness this record wears on its sleeve is stunning. We've recorded a new record, the last ghost train home, which will be released within the next few months on Laughing Outlaw Records.
